Every year paint companies select a “color of the year”. There are teams of people scouring every corner of the globe and every industry (think fashion, automotive, technology, etc) to see what the latest trends in color will be. This year’s selection from Sherwin Williams is one of my favorites. It is timeless & rich in it’s beauty. And completely versatile. Anyone can bring this color into their home for an instant update. The 2020 color of the year is Naval (Sherwin Williams #6244).

I know you are wondering how exactly to incorporate this deep dark blue into your home. Here are three ways to get this color in your home for an effortlessly classic look.

#1 – Paint a wall

What a simple & cost effective way to try out this amazing color. I recommend using it in a smaller space like a powder room for a dramatic look.

#2 – Decorative Tile

Add a pop of color will a navy tile back splash or fireplace surround. There are an assortment of Mexican tiles that incorporate this deep rich blue hue for a gorgeous addition to your kitchen or bath.

#3 – Accessories

If you aren’t sure of something so permanent as tile or paint, try pulling in some new accessories in this rich blue hue. A simple navy lamp shade or rug will be a beautiful addition to your space.

Now that you know how to get some of this gorgeous blue in your home, one last tip. Add antiqued brass accents (hardware, lamps or picture frames) to really make the navy pop. Plus you will end up with a room that looks classically elegant without being to fancy.
